Vegan Carob Mylk Easter Eggs (two ways)

Easter is just around the corner, and the supermarket shelves are already stocked with hot cross buns and endless varieties of sugar-laden Easter Eggs.           This Easter, I wanted to make sure our sensitive folk (who can merely look at a hot cross bun and feel a flare coming on) had some yummy alternatives to enjoy. So we have two Easter egg options which use ingredients from Karen Fischer's Eczema Detox programs.         These two recipes feature carob powder which I love as an alternative to cocoa (or cacao powder) for those prone to skin issues. Charred Lettuce Autumn Salad with Fish

This tasty paleo-inspired fish dish includes a beautiful Autumn vegetable salad, paired with fresh white fish.                   It's nearly Easter, and it's officially Autumn here in Australia, so we thought this colourful dish would be ideal for a special Good Friday meal (or anytime really). We have used ingredients that are featured in The Eczema Detox (check out the beautiful book here), plus sugar snap peas just because they look AMAZING in photos.                                      Note sugar snap peas contain moderate salicylates so...

Baked Lamb Chops with Roasted Vegetables

This hearty meal is a one-dish wonder, allowing all the flavours to marinate together and create a taste sensation. This Paleo-friendly dish uses ingredients from The Eczema Detox and takes advantage of the many different coloured vegetables on offer. Purple carrots and purple sweet potatoes vary in their phytonutrient profile in comparison to the orange variety. Both are fantastic, but changing up the colours in your vegetables can help keep things interesting, as well as providing different nutrients. The health benefits: Purple sweet potato (Hawaiian sweet potato) has shown to have more than three times the amount of antioxidants than blueberries, one of these...

Cabbage Steaks with Vegan Beetroot Cream

These cabbage steaks are quite a lovely surprise for the taste buds. When roasted, cabbage becomes soft, with crunchy edges and a delicious flavour. The 'steaks' pair perfectly with crispy chickpeas, caramelised leeks and a silky beetroot cream.  This recipe uses low food chemical ingredients from the Eczema Detox, which centre on foods fantastic for skin health and liver detoxification.   The health benefits: Beetroot is an important vegetable for eczema sufferers as it has strong alkalising properties which boost liver detoxification of chemicals. Beetroot is abundant in antioxidants, folate, iron and choline (which helps to prevent fatty liver).   Cabbage Is an excellent source of...

Cashew Butter

Cashew Butter

While almond butter was crazy popular last year {along with almond meal, almond milk and almond lattes}, I think the humble cashew nut is far more tasty, creamy and versatile.  While almonds are a healthy nut that is good for the general population, they are unfortunately very rich in salicylates and amines making them largely unsuitable for people with chemical intolerances and eczema. And if you are prone to oily skin and breakouts, almonds can give you crazy teen-like acne.  This is why raw cashews are the nut-of-choice in the Eczema Detox, which is a book that features on our Eczema Life website. Note I said...
